Gulf War Service Linked to Multisymptom Illness, Other Health Problems; Causes Are Unclear

April 9, 2010 -- Military service in the Persian Gulf War is linked with increased risk for multisymptom illness, post-traumatic stress disorder, and certain other health problems, says a new report from the Institute of Medicine. The report calls for further research to answer lingering questions, such as why some veterans suffer multisymptom illness while others do not, and to develop better treatments.
