March 31, 2010 -- Efforts of the U.S. departments of Defense and Veterans Affairs to facilitate a smooth transition for military personnel and their families from service in Iraq and Afghanistan to post-deployment life back home are hampered by a lack of information about their specific needs, says a new report from the Institute of Medicine. The report identifies the most pressing post-deployment readjustment needs of service members, veterans, and their families.
