The Board on Children, Youth, and Families (BCYF) addresses a variety of policy-relevant issues related to the health and development of children, youth, and families. It does so by convening experts to weigh in on matters from the perspective of the behavioral, social, and health sciences.

Organized in 1993, the Board on Children, Youth, and Families was created under the joint aegis of the National Research Council and the Institute of Medicine. The Board is housed within the NRC Division of Behavioral and Social Sciences and Education and in the administrative unit of the Center for Economic, Governance, and International Studies.
